The Clear-Door Process

Custom iron doors, without the uncertainty

A custom iron door takes six steps at ASKCL: a photo fit check, a free on-site measure, a written specification sheet, your logged design approval, weekly updates while it is built, and a clean install you sign off on. The biggest fear in this category is paying a deposit and losing visibility. This process exists so that never happens to you.

What happens after I reach out?

    1. Step 1 · Same day

      Photo & Fit Check

Text or upload a photo of your entry with rough dimensions. We tell you what will fit, what configurations make sense, and what the scope realistically involves before anyone drives anywhere.

    2. Step 2 · Within a few days

      Design Consultation

We come out, measure the opening for real, and document what you want: style, glass, security, hardware, finish, and budget. Free everywhere we serve, with no trip charge.

    3. Step 3 · Within 2 business days

      Specification Sheet

You get one written sheet: materials, glass, hardware, what installation includes, what it excludes, warranty terms, and the target timeline. No verbal-only promises.

    4. Step 4 · You set the pace

      Design Approval

One controlled drawing to approve. Every revision is logged, so nobody argues later about which version was built. Fabrication does not start until you sign off.

    5. Step 5 · Every week, without fail

      Weekly Project Update

You hear from us every week while your door is in the shop — even in the weeks when nothing has changed. You should never have to call and ask where your door is.

    6. Step 6 · Usually one day

      Clean Install & Sign-Off

Operation, sealing, finish, and trim get checked in front of you. We clean up, photograph the finished work, walk the punch list, and you sign that it is genuinely finished.

Want to see the door on your house first?

Upload a photo of your entry in the visualizer and drop real ASKCL doors onto it. Nothing is invented or AI-generated — every door you see is a photograph of a door we built.

Questions homeowners ask before they commit

How does the iron door process actually work?

Six named steps: Photo & Fit Check, Design Consultation, Specification Sheet, Design Approval, Weekly Project Update, and Clean Install & Sign-Off.

How long does a custom iron door take?

Most custom doors run six to twelve weeks from approved drawing to installation, depending on size, glass, and complexity. Refinishing an existing door is usually one to two days on site.

What happens if I want to change the design mid-build?

Tell us as early as you can. Before fabrication starts, changes are easy and we simply reissue the drawing. Once steel is cut, some changes carry a cost, and we will tell you what it is in writing before we proceed.

Will I know what I am buying before I pay?

Yes. The specification sheet lists materials, glass, hardware, installation inclusions and exclusions, and warranty terms in plain English. If something is not on that sheet, it is not in the price.

Do you charge for the measure or the quote?

No. Measuring, design consultation, and quoting are free across our service area, and travel from our Cleburne shop is already inside the quoted price.

    What does installation include?

Removal and disposal of the old door, setting and shimming the new unit, weatherseal, threshold, hardware installation, finish touch-up on any handling marks, and full cleanup. Anything outside that scope is listed as an exclusion up front.

What if something is wrong after install?

Call the shop. We are a family business forty-five minutes from most of the metroplex, not a national dealer network — warranty and adjustment visits are handled by the same people who built your door.

Do you work with builders and HOAs?

Regularly. We supply renderings and finish specifications for HOA architectural review, and we coordinate delivery late in new construction so drywall and paint crews cannot damage the finish.
